PARMA, Ohio - Jan. 19, 2021 - PRLog -- Rhode Island School of Design graduate, Ki Charm John Kim has announced that his flagship brand, K. Charm Design is launching a line of contract lighting fixtures inspired by Korean traditional ceramics. Punchong ware is a form of spontaneous and gestural ceramics.

Ki Charm was born in Seoul, Korea but his family emigrated to the United States when he was two years old. Ki Charm grew up in Los Angeles, a city where cultures clashed and blended.  He grew up surrounded by Latinos, East Asians, African Americans and Middle-Eastern cultures.  In the ethnic diaspora that Ki Charm grew up in, he was exposed to a diverse cultural experience exploring foods and visual cues from around the world.

Later, his education at the Rhode Island School of Design allowed him to really draw on this experiences.  K. Charm Design celebrates these diverse experiences and draws on them to bring them back into our cultural vernacular.  The current lighting collection is no different.

Rooting it to the current locale, Parma, Ohio - Parma Punchong uses clays and materials sourced locally.  It captures some of the contrasting darks and lights from traditional Punchong wares, but the applications and designs are new.
