MADISON, Wis. - Jan. 26, 2021 - PRLog -- Singing Rooster began working with Haitian coffee farmers in 2009.  They expanded their work to Haitian artists several years later.

"In Haiti, art is a life-line for many.  With few jobs, no public schools, and a dismal political environment, art provides a necessary escape," says Chris Nicaise, co-founder of this social enterprise nonprofit.  He acknowledges that in the west, we're spoiled where people can indulge in artistic adventures.  But in Haiti, it serves as the only source of income.

Singing Rooster began selling Haitian paintings on their website in an effort to directly support small-producer artists.

"Our Haitian paintings come from street artists who set up canvases and paint around certain squares in Port au Prince and Jacmel," said Nicaise.

Some artists are known for certain styles – like the painter who paints exceptionally tall women in sandals at the market.  "I call his paintings 'Long Legged Ladies'; his work is brilliant – so colorful and fantastic.  Sometimes it's hard to let go of the paintings; I hang many in my house until I sell them – so there is a period when I can fully enjoy them."

Singing Rooster also carries:
