Follow on Google News | AdvisorSmith Finds the U.S. States & Counties that Traveled the Most During ChristmasBy: AdvisorSmith AdvisorSmith looked at trips that were at least 100 miles or longer to find the counties and states with the most travelers from the mobile data. The study took into account trips taken between December 20, 2020 and December 26, 2020. The study also segmented the counties between small, midsize, and large to compare each country based on population size. The study found that, on average, 36 long-distance trips were taken per 1,000 people per day during the week of Christmas. For large counties, the average number of long-distance trips per day was 37 per 1,000 population, with Wisconsin residents taking the most trips. The average number of long-distance trips in midsize counties was 53 per 1,000 residents, and Wisconsin and Missouri had the highest number of residents who traveled over Christmas week. Small counties had the highest average number, with 73 trips per 1,000 residents per day, with Georgia, Iowa, and Missouri leading. On a per-capita basis, AdvisorSmith also discovered the states that traveled the most. Wyoming was the state with the most residents traveling and had double the number of long-distance trips compared with the national average. On the other hand, residents in Hawaii had the least number of long-distance trips.
