CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Dec. 29, 2020 - PRLog -- Once the HOA has held its annual meeting, set the budget, elected new board members, and tied up any loose ends for 2020, it's time to communicate with members and get 2021 started on the right foot. Kuester Management Group has released a statement to the press regarding some of the information HOAs should be sharing in the new year so members know what to expect.

"Now that the craziness of the holidays is over, families are settling back into their routines," says Bryan Kuester, President of Kuester Management Group. "The start of the new year is a great time to remind members of some of the most commonly violated rules in the HOA along with basic expectations. A little refresher can help curb problems before they start."

The community newsletter can be the perfect place to print reminders, says Kuester. The association can also introduce new board members who are starting this year so homeowners know who is making decisions and representing their best interests. Not everyone may have been able to attend the annual meeting, so let them know who was elected and what other decisions were made.

The board can also let members know what projects are planned for the upcoming year and what changes to expect. Will paving create some traffic detours or delays? Is a new gate being installed? Has the association changed landscapers? Are there any community events coming up? Give homeowners a heads up.

"With the holidays behind us, now is also a good time to remind homeowners of any operational changes due to COVID-19," says Kuester. "If there are new protocols for accessing the clubhouse, a different platform is being used for virtual board meetings, or morning yoga classes are being limited in capacity or shifting online, make sure members are informed."

Regular communication is key. It is better to overcommunicate so there is no confusion than to under-communicate and leave homeowners wondering what is happening, or being hit with violations for things they did not realize they were doing wrong.
