Orange Effect Foundation Reaches Milestone 5,000 Hours of Speech Therapy Grants

CLEVELAND - Dec. 16, 2020 - PRLog -- It is fitting that in addition to celebrating the fifth consecutive year of awarding grants for speech therapy and speech devices, the Orange Effect Foundation celebrates another exciting milestone. The Orange Effect Foundation has now funded 5,000 hours of speech therapy for children throughout the United States who otherwise would be unable to afford it. This means that children whose lives were severely limited due to their ability to communicate are now empowered to reach their true potential.

The Orange Effect Foundation is proud to announce that their grants have reached 236 kids in 34 states. Grants have purchased 53 speech devices and almost 5,000 hours of speech therapy. This news comes after a recent board meeting where $30,000 was awarded to fund speech therapy and devices. Board member Cathy McPhillips explains, "Grant recipients have a medical need, and their families have a financial need…and this year has amplified those needs even more. The 5,000-hour milestone couldn't have come at a better time for some uplifting news. We hope this helps these children and their families as they work toward improved communication."

The Orange Effect Foundation strives to empower children and young adults with speech disorders to communicate effectively. Children, many on the autism spectrum and others diagnosed with apraxia, have been able to attend speech camp, receive consistent individual speech therapy sessions, and obtain speech technology that has changed their lives for the better.

The Orange Effect Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, or sexual orientation. Although grants are awarded based on financial need, the foundation does consider extenuating circumstances. In all cases, the Orange Effect Foundation prefers to be the funder of last resort, relying on corporate, community, and individual support to raise funds.

The next grant application deadline is February 15, 2021. For more information and to obtain a copy of the grant application visit theorangeeffect.org.

About the Orange Effect Foundation

The foundation, while officially formed in 2014, actually began back in 2001, when the founders' son was born with autism. Early intervention helped him to become a heartwarming and independent young man. The Pulizzi family wanted to give back by empowering other children with the therapy and tools they need to communicate effectively.

The Golf for Autism is the Orange Effect Foundation's largest fundraiser. Proceeds from the event have raised more than $500,000, directly funding speech services to children in need. The Orange Effect Foundation's 15th Annual Golf for Autism will be held August 2, 2021, at Elyria Country Club. For more information and to register, please visit www.theorangeeffect.org.
