Valley Food Coalition Releases Report On Best Practices In Food & Agriculture Policies & Regulations

PHOENIX - Dec. 15, 2020 - PRLog -- The Maricopa County Food System Coalition (MarCo) has announced the publication of its Maricopa County Food System Local Best Practices: Policies & Regulations Report, which is the first of three Public Policy reports. The report highlights the experience of 10 local governments and serves as a reference guide to identify innovative public policies and regulations that can enhance Maricopa County's food system.

The report is also a critical element of MarCo's Community Food Assessment, the county's first comprehensive regional food system assessment that the Coalition completed in 2019.  It spotlights policies and regulations that can be used by local government officials, individuals, and organizations that work in food and agriculture, as well as consumers who are interested in supporting a more affordable and sustainable food system.

"The MarCo Local Best Practices report will serve as a reference identifying how other municipalities in Maricopa County are using policies and regulations to address food system issues," said Joshua Bednarek, the City of Phoenix's Deputy Director of Planning.  "That information will be used during the process of revising policies and zoning regulations in response to recommendations identified in the City Council approved Phoenix Food Action Plan."

The full report can be read online. (https://marcofoodcoalition.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11...)
