Mathematics professor Sam Teagarden is plunged into an epidemic of religious-based bloodshed on a mission to help resolve a crisis alternating between suicidal cults and homicidal extremists. One faction threatens mass suicide to ensure global publication; the other will murder to prevent the decoded document from being released.

The ancient encrypted parchment is dubbed the Q Document for the German word quelle, which means source. It may be the original source for two of the four Gospels—Matthew and Luke, and could shed new, unsettling light on the origin of the world's most widely observed religious faith.

Partnered with both FBI and CIA agents, Teagarden quickly finds himself alone and entangled in a crucible of violence where it's impossible to know who to trust or what is real danger versus paranoia.
