AKCP Announces Medical Refrigerator Monitoring

Powered by 4x AA batteries with up to 10 years life, and equipped with 2x NIST traceable, calibrated temperature sensors. One sensor functions as a calibration check of the other, with an alert if the sensor is out of calibration.

Temperature sensors inside medical refrigerators should be inside a jar of Glycol to act as a buffer against rapid fluctuations in temperature and false positives when the refrigerator door is opened. What matters is the temperature of the liquid drugs or vaccines, not the air temperature in the refrigerator. The below picture shows a comparison between a sensor in a glycol jar and one without. The rapid response of the sensor exposed to air temperatures is clearly seen.

A NIST4 option is also available which includes a backup sensor pair integrated into the radio device. Should a pair of sensors be out of calibration an alert is generated. A seamless transition from one sensor pair to the next is made, without missing a beat in your temperature monitoring and graphing.

Data from the Wireless Tunnel NIST2 or NIST4 sensors is collected on the AKCP Wireless Tunnel™ Gateway (WTG). View the sensor data online, with graphing, reports and alerts.

Alerts can be sent via SMS or e-mail, as well as on-site audible alarms through the WTG internal buzzer or an external siren and strobe light. Additional options include monitoring refrigerator doors to ensure they are closed, RFID access control for secure rooms or medical refrigerators.
