MOSCOW, Russian Federation - Nov. 30, 2020 - PRLog -- Moscow among 38 Russian cities is participating in the project of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) "Review of the National Urban Policy of the Russian Federation".

"We actively analyze international experience in various areas of urban development and use proven solutions implemented in cities abroad. We also act as a partner for the regions of Russia to implement the best practices used in Moscow and marked by Russian and international ratings and awards. Cooperation with such a reputable international organization as the OECD will allow us to obtain an independent assessment of the city's development policy pursued by the Moscow Government, as well as to share the accumulated experience with foreign colleagues," said Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations.

The OECD project was launched in 2011 and has already been executed in countries such as China, Kazakhstan, Poland, Chile, Vietnam and Mexico. Russia joined the initiative in 2020. As part of this project, the OECD will carry out an assessment of Russian cities and, by November 2021, will provide recommendations for improving legislation in the field of urban governance.

On November 16, 2020 a two-week online marathon dedicated to the development of Russian cities started to provide OECD experts an opportunity to collect the materials needed for the research. Representatives of federal, regional and local authorities, development institutions and the expert community take part in the event.

On November 25, a special Moscow session took place within the framework of the OECD project. The representatives of the city administration reported about the main indicators of the economic development of the city, the budget and investment policy of the Moscow government, anti-crisis measures to support the economy during the coronavirus pandemic, competitiveness in comparison with other world megacities and trends in the development of the Moscow agglomeration.

The OECD will present its first conclusions by the end of this year. An interim stage of discussions at the OECD committee in Paris is also planned. Based on the results of the project, a report containing the recommendations for the development of urban housing and construction policy in Russia will be prepared.
