WEROCK presents CO2-neutral industrial notebook

PFORZHEIM, Germany - Nov. 24, 2020 - PRLog -- WEROCK Technologies GmbH, innovative manufacturer of industrial IT and communication solutions, releases the X550, the first rugged notebook from the Rockbook series. The extremely robust notebook is specially designed for use under the toughest conditions, features "fully rugged" protection characteristics and a slim and lightweight design.

The company, which was only founded in summer 2020, has set itself the goal of making a positive impact on the environment. The Rockbook X550 is the manufacturer's first notebook that is good for the climate. However, a climate-neutral production of computers is currently not possible - be it due to the emissions generated in the production of circuit boards, the case or the energy-intensive production of lithium batteries. So how is it that the manufacturer claims the model is "CO2 neutral"?

"We are pleased that the topic is slowly gaining momentum in the field of consumer electronics," says Markus Nicoleit, managing director of WEROCK. Nicoleit is well aware of the problems in industrial electronics. "Unfortunately, the topic is much more complex in the field of industrial computers, as elaborate processes with comparatively small quantities make sustainable production difficult", Nicoleit continues. Even the mere calculation of emissions can make a sustainable industrial product uneconomical. "As a young company we do not have a complete research department that could calculate the emissions of each component in the supply chain. Instead, we have decided that where we cannot influence the emissions, we would rather make a significantly higher contribution to climate protection projects," Nicoleit continues.

One of the major emission factors are, besides manufacturing, packaging and transport. The Rockbook X550 scores here with a cardboard that is almost entirely made of unbleached paper. In contrast to the usual transport route by air freight, the devices reach Germany by rail. Not only because of the lower price, but also because of the "significantly lower CO2 emissions", says Nicoleit.

The compensation is carried out via partner projects according to the WWF Gold Standard and is already included in the price for the customer.
