It's ALIVE: Webfitters Launches MHUG's New Website – This Year's Big Bang Winner!

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Nov. 10, 2020 - PRLog -- The Big Bang is Webfitters annual community impact project that focuses on giving back to the community. Each year our team spends countless hours during the course of one week designing and developing a new website for a lucky non-profit. The best part- it's FREE!

This year's Big Bang winner was Midwest Hydro Users Group (MHUG). Their portfolio of members, including hydroelectric plant operators, dam owners, developers, and consultants, provide years of industry experience and knowledge to strengthen their core mission (https://midwesthug.com/about-mhug/our-mission/).

What were the challenges?

An outdated, cluttered website that lacked a visual identity can hurt user's impressions of a site and deter them from engaging any further. This means users aren't fully reaping the benefits and experiences that the website offers.

The older version of MHUG's website struggled to find a healthy balance between the quantity of information displayed and the ease of navigation that viewer's desire. This problem occurred not only on the website's pages but also transpired to their member portal and event calendar. A streamlined user experience in a clean and well-organized layout is imperative to the success of a website.

What were the solutions?

Webfitters collaborated with MHUG to create a website with natural flow and efficiently organized content so viewers can gain access to the information most important to them. A few of the changes include a flowing design which played on the 'hydro' theme, new pages that provide a home for specific information, and an enhanced member portal.

Here's a snapshot of the new pages:

• The News & Resource Center (https://midwesthug.com/news-resources/) provides readily available information in a grid-style format that pertains to the latest news and studies in the hydropower industry.
• The Upcoming Events (https://midwesthug.com/events/) page allows site visitors to view conferences and speakers available to them. For members, signing up for an upcoming event is a breeze too because our team implemented an automatic email recognition system!

Our commitment to enhanced user experience doesn't end there. MHUG's member portal (https://midwesthug.com/register/membership/) was completely renovated to operate as a one-stop-shop for all things hydropower and membership related. An extensive document library featuring exclusive resources, meeting minutes, and much more is now available for registered members.

Congratulations to Midwest Hydro Users Group for being the recipient of this year's Big Bang! Check out their new website here (https://midwesthug.com/)!

Established 501c3 organizations are eligible to apply, a winner is chosen by our team, and then we collaborate with the chosen organization to build a completely custom website in a week flat.
