Advocate Radiation Oncology debuts second Halcyon radiotherapy system
By: Advocate Radiation Oncology
The Halcyon uses image-guided radiotherapy to deliver highly targeted cancer treatments with precision and comfort. Compared to traditional systems, the Halcyon's intelligent automation provides for faster treatment times and its quiet, smooth motions and soft, ambient lighting keep patients relaxed and comfortable during their treatments. The Halcyon has proven effective in treating breast, prostate, lung, brain and other types of cancers.
Advocate installed its first Halcyon machine at its Cape Coral office, the first Halcyon in Southwest Florida, and the second system is now available to patients at Advocate's Fort Myers location. No other oncology practice in Fort Myers offers the Halcyon.
"Since we first introduced the Halcyon, we've been able to help so many patients from across Southwest Florida in their cancer journey," said Dr. Arie Dosoretz, the managing partner at Advocate Radiation Oncology. "Patients come first in every single decision we make, and this is another powerful tool that gives us the ability to offer cutting-edge technology and expertise to the Southwest Florida community."
Engineered by Varian Medical Systems, the Halcyon features high-quality, on-board imaging in conjunction with sophisticated radiation treatments that can be delivered in a matter of minutes. Its intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) capabilities offer an individually tailored, image-guided treatment plan.
Advocate's Fort Myers office is located at 15681 New Hampshire Court. The Cape Coral office is located at 909 Del Prado Blvd. Advocate also operates a location in Port Charlotte at 3080 Harbor Blvd. For more information, please visit AdvocateRO.com
