Sirius XM Radio's Wealthy Ways Show with Dr. Willie Jolley, Interviews Chairman of the NCBMP

WASHINGTON - Nov. 3, 2020 - PRLog -- Jason Dunn took the helm of the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals in late 2019, just in time to handle the new challenges that COVID-19 brings to the world and the meetings industry in particular. But he was well-positioned for the task.

As a former chair of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, and the Chair of Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce, Dunn was schooled in building consensus, and delivering on over 200 million dollars in new projects.

Yet, his story of overcoming challenges is one that makes his achievements even more amazing. Dunn is one of six brothers that were born to a father, who was a former Marine, and a mother who was a health care worker. In his early teen years, his father died of a massive heart attack. Dunn was an exceptional athlete and was able to get an athletic scholarship to a major college. The problem was that he had a secret–he could not read well. Due to his reading inadequacies, he fell behind in his studies and had to leave college after the first year. Dunn was able to get into a smaller school and met his future wife. She taught him to read. And he went on to activist and then went on to be hired by the Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau, where he created historic success for the CVB and rose to become the first Black Executive VP of the CVB.

Jason Dunn is now focused on empowering minority communities through building relationships and garnering resources to grow the meetings industry. He believes respect, trustworthiness, accessibility, honesty, empathic and mutual equity are key characteristics to developing a collaborative work spirit for the meetings industry.
