Dr.Abhay Kumar PatiBy: Best Nutrition Products Inc Dr.Abhay Kumar Pati, CEO Best Nutrition Products Inc. Ayurvedic medicine is over 10,000 years and 80% people in India and Indian subcontinent depend on Ayurveda, the indigenous traditional medicine. Ayurveda is not only deals or based on medicinal plants. It is a vast medical science including Yoga, meditation and physical therapies like Panchakarmas and Dinacharyas ( personal hygiene maintenance) Now a days, Ayurvedic therapies and Ayurvedic supplements are also appreciated and gaining popularity by American consumers. Ayurvedic plants based products in America are not in raw powder, (churna), bhasma or batika form or sold as Ayurvedic medicine. Those are isolated standardized molecular extracts, which are known as phytochemical compounds. Compound are encapsulated in capsules or in tablets form. There are over 30 common ayurvedic supplements are sold in drugs stores, supermarkets, Costco, CVS, Walmart, and Amazon etc.now a days. Products like curcumin ( turmeric), Momordica ( bitter Mellon), Ashwagandha, Tulsi, Testofen (fenugreek), Tribulas (Goksura), Cinnamon, Garcinia, Psyllium ( Isabgul), Valerian ( Jatamansi), Mucuna, Guduchi ( Giloy) and a dozen more Ayurvedic supplements. Those are sold as health food, herbal supplements, functional foods etc. India received Independence over 70 yrs back and until now India did not discover a single drug. Many many modern pharma drugs such as morphine, digitalis, dopamine, reserpine, berberine and much much more have derived from Ayurvedic medicinal plants of India. Once plants are isolated or extracted using any type of solvent ( water, alcohol or high pressured carbon dioxide CO2) into a standardized compound, it is no longer count as Ayurvedic medicine. How Ayurvedic system of medicine could be modernized? After India's Independence, Ayurvedic was integrated with modern medicine in most of the States in India. Later on those doctors became full fledged MBBS doctors too. Now a days for 40 yrs, they have only an Ayurvedic degree called BAMS and MD in Ayurveda. It is not longer integrated with modern medicine. Once Ayurvedic medicine is modernized, it becomes Allopathic or western medicine. Whether you are an Ayurvedic physician or Allopathic doctor, physicians are not involved that much in drug discovery than clinical administration. Scientists like chemists, molecular biologists, botanists, biotech and pharmacy graduates are involved in drug discovery whereas Ayurvedic or western physicians only do drugs delivery, clinical application and clinical studies administration. Ayurveda and Ayurvedic medical science is unique and special. Therefore, It can not be compared, compromised or integrated with western medicine. Dr.Abhay Kumar Pati, an integrated physician, trained in Ayurvedic and western medicine, an author of more than a dozen books on Ayurveda, nutrition, functional food, medicinal plants. https://www.bestnutrition.com End
