Follow on Google News | Loretta Kaufman Receives Medal of Honor in the NAWA's 131st Annual Members' ExhibitionBy: Loretta Kaufman Founded in 1889, NAWA is the first established professional women's art organization in the United States. NAWA's existence is a testament to the integral and essential role of dynamic, talented and visionary women artists in the art world. Documented exhibitions are archived within the Smithsonian Institution Archives, The Whitney Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Library of Congress, among others. ABOUT THE ARTIST In nearly five decades, Nashville sculptor and painter, Loretta Ana Kaufman, has produced work in wood, fiber, metal, clay and paint. In 2017 she was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievement Award for her sustained involvement in the visual arts. In 2018 Loretta's oil painting was published in the book of poetry "Gate Posts with No Gate – The Leg Paint Project" which carries an endorsement from author and curator Sean Hemingway. Her paintings and sculptures have been exhibited worldwide including at INDEX Dubai 2018, Dubai World Trade Center, UAE. In 2018, she received the Cutting Edge Award (all media) for her acrylic painting in NAWA's 129th Annual Members' Exhibition in New York. In 2019, her 3D sculpture received an Honorable Mention in NAWA's Sculpture On & Off The Wall, also in Manhattan. The Tennessee Arts Commission in Nashville curated a retrospective of Loretta's paintings, works on paper, sculpture and collage in 2020. Loretta's sculptures and paintings have been exhibited and received awards in Fusion Arts' international exhibitions since 2015.
