"There were six persons left in this world; the young man found out he was not one of them."
Thus begins the intriguing dark fantasy Personhood.
Arthur is a college student who somehow travels to an apocalyptic future by way of an unknown force. Jenny is a doctor working for one of the corporations that run the world of the future. Dr. Emile White Hand is a 150-year-old engineer who sets Arthur on a path of discovery.
At a time when glaciers cover most of North America, Arthur finds himself in Bozeman, Montana, where the Yellowstone Caldera has melted into one large molten lava lake that keeps the area warm enough to hold off surrounding glaciers.
This strange ecosystem has produced some bizarre new species.
"Once the first Buffalo broke through to the hive, it was swarmed all over with Keef. The other Buffalo then broke from their single file and made their way to the side of the first. They were swarmed over as well."
