African-Americans investigating ghost and the paranormal: Rare as a full moon on Halloween

CHICAGO - Oct. 7, 2020 - PRLog -- Something truly extraordinary will be happening in Allegan County, Michigan, this Halloween.  Besides the holiday falling on the night of a full-moon, a unique team of African-American ghost hunters from Chicago will be returning to the Allegan County Old Jailhouse where they will be locked down for the night while investigating the strange allegations of paranormal activity that have given the location a reputation as being one of the most haunted jails in America.

The group, known as the Urban Paranormal Experience, will be making their second visit to the location this year.  Their first visit was in August, and the group's founder, William Weeden, says that it definitely lived up to its reputation during their first investigation as they witnessed shadow figures, orbs, and EVPs, or electronic voice phenomenons. Although their first trip to the Old Jail was open to a small group of guest investigators, concerns over the recent spike in Covid cases in Illinois and Michigan, have led the group to limit participation in this Halloween night event to four group members and the building manager. However, the group will be live-a streaming the event on Facebook Live so that they can safely reach as many paranormal enthusiasts as possible.

The Allegan County Old Jailhouse served as a jail and sheriff's residence from 1906-1963. When this jail was built, it not only housed the local criminals - it also served as the home of the sheriff and his family. Today it stands as a museum with well-over 10,000 artifacts and is maintained by the Allegan County Historical Society.  Tales of spirits roaming the cells of the jail are well known in the area, and numerous paranormal investigators visiting the site have collected interesting evidence throughout the 10,800 square foot building that includes a two story residence, which the Allegan County Historical Society has furnished to reflect the lifestyle of the early 1900's.
