Follow on Google News | Teen Mentor Nonprofit EquipHer Launched 2020-2021 Program YearBy: EquipHer, Inc. The weekend started with a virtual kickoff on Friday, September 11th, where participants received baskets of supplies and goodies to their homes in advance of the meeting. The first monthly gathering took place in-person on Saturday, September 12th. Participants learned the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, including identifying social entrepreneurship opportunities and developed the initial frameworks of their own entrepreneurship projects. The event is the first of eight monthly life skills workshops that are centered at empowering girls to grow, learn, and develop. The monthly gatherings are scheduled the second Saturday of each month and cover a range of topics, including diversity & inclusion, team work & problem solving, personal branding, public speaking & interviewing, and selflessness & giving back. According to Bria Gilmore, the Co-Founder of nonprofit EquipHer, "This program launch was beyond what I could've expected. Despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, we were able to offer a safe space for our mentees to find encouragement and confidence amidst such challenging times." The event took place at SOAR Co-Working, Inc., a professional co-working space geared at helping entrepreneurs and remote workers have access to resources, community, and an office space to work in. SOAR is a sponsor of EquipHer. For more information about EquipHer's annual programming, to volunteer, or to donate, go to www.equip-her.com.
