Tee Up For a Fabulous Cause on October 4

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Oct. 1, 2020 - PRLog -- Michelle Keaton-Barrow, CEO of Keaton Barrow Realty, has teamed up with celebrity clothier William Wilson as one of the sponsors of his 2020 Clothier Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament on October 4 at Carolina Lakes Golf Club. The annual golf tournament this year will feature NFL greats Rod Smith, Yancey Thigpen, Donnell Woolford, Leonard Wheeler, Frank Garcia and Ryne Robinson, the NBA's Sleepy Floyd and Alexis Ajinca and NASCAR's Bill Lester, among others. Threesomes will be teamed with a celebrity and have a chance to win prizes as they support a cause that is near and dear to Wilson's heart: Supporting domestic violence survivors.

The William Wilson Charitable Foundation, which has been holding the tournament for 10 years, is creating a scholarship through Central Piedmont Community College for continuing education career development programs that take anywhere from 30 days to 4 months to complete. Created to aid domestic violence survivors or their children, Wilson had their specific needs in mind. "Not everyone in a domestic violence situation has the luxury of being able to go to school for 2 to 4 years; they need to acquire skills that will make them more marketable quickly," he notes.

Keaton-Barrow, who has a long been a mentor and advocate for women in need (and who is also an avid golfer) was immediately attracted by practicality of Wilson's program. "I always emphasize the value of education as a way to get ahead. This scholarship will help give survivors the tools they need to escape their current situation and to thrive on their own as they take care of themselves and their families. I am honored and humbled to play a part in that process."

This cause is deeply personal for Wilson. "My mom was a domestic violence survivor. I know how powerless I felt as a little boy; I wanted to do whatever I could to help people overcome this situation." While this year's tournament will be different than in year's past due to COVID-19, Wilson is confident that folks will come out to help. "We scaled back this year because we don't want to put anyone at risk as they are making an effort to do good."
