Following a study by The New England Journal of Medicine revealing that COVID-19 can survive on surfaces for up to 72 hours, swathes of people responsible for the cleaning and hygiene of commercial spaces have been looking at the various sanitisation options available. One of those options is steam cleaning.
"Heat is known to exterminate bacteria and viruses," says Anderson Trade. "Only 77 degrees Celsius is needed to kill bugs, and steam goes much higher than that. Plus there are numerous other benefits to using steam to clean and sanitise."
Anderson Trade explains that steam has the ability to get right into all those nooks and crannies, all the places germs hide. "It doesn't just attack viruses," they explain. "It also tackles germs, mould, fungus and dust mites; dissolves grease and effectively cleans glass and mirrors."
Because steam cleaning is detergent-free, it is suitable for surfaces that need sanitising but would otherwise be damaged by traditional forms of disinfecting. In fact, the NHS openly recommends steam cleaning for soft furnishings and upholstery.
Anderson Trade sells a range of commercial steam cleaning machines. One of the most popular is the Coccinella (https://anderson-
