Todd Rundgren Fans Raise Over $16000 for Musicians and Band Support Affected by Gig Cancellations

AKRON, Ohio - Sept. 16, 2020 - PRLog -- Todd Rundgren fans donated over $16,000 with proceeds going to musicians and band support that have lost touring income due to the cancellations of concerts during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Donations were raised during a free three-day virtual party held over Labor Day weekend by the Todd Rundgren fan inspired group Rundgren Radio.

The pandemic upended what could have been a banner year for the concert business. Instead, musicians and their touring employees have been left without work after most concerts were postponed until 2021.

Rundgren Radio decided to take their annual party, which typically includes a massive fan party one night followed by a special Todd Rundgren concert the following night, and make it a virtual event with an option for fans to donate funds to offset lost income for the party's entertainers which included multiple live acts and music video contributions.

Rundgren Radio's Melinda Cain noted: "We have a group of fans that care about what's going on with the people in Todd's touring circle and musicians in our community that are not working because of the postponed tour.  This group also misses live entertainment and getting together at concerts so we combined those two things virtually as best we could.  The entertainers for our party and some band support that don't have other income streams received funds from the donations we collected."

Todd Rundgren offered a personal message to the fans via video for their successful fundraiser, "I wanted to congratulate you on your benefit and how much money you are raising to help musicians and band support to get through this since they are not getting any work done.  Keep up the good work".

Over 7 hours of entertainment were provided including videos submitted by multiple bands and live performances from national recording artists included but not limited to Astral Drive, Mutlu Onaral, Eliot Lewis of Hall and Oates, former Chicago lead singer Jason Scheff, and a headlining performance from Utopia's Kasim Sulton. The entire event has been archived and can be viewed on Rundgren Radio's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXZU-H0S6zdfK0PHMc2-VpQ
