-- Tiger Fuel Company is celebrating National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, September 13- 19, across its four bulk heating plants. Created by the American Trucking Associations, this week is dedicated to honoring professional truck drivers moving America forward and tackling one of the economy's most important and demanding jobs. Tiger is recognizing its 90+ drivers with gift bags, catered breakfasts and lunches, personal video messages and shout-outs, thank you posters signed by the administrative staff, custom lunch boxes and special contests.
"Our drivers are the backbone of Tiger Fuel, and they have continued to work diligently throughout the coronavirus pandemic, meeting every challenge posed along the way," said President Gordon Sutton. "I'm incredibly proud of our devoted professional drivers who serve our customers 24/7. Their unwavering work ethic and support deserves utmost praise and thanks."
Along with Tiger's commitment to serving customers locally, they received an emergency activation order September 12 to provide fuel and restore power to agencies like FEMA as a preemptive response to Tropical Storm Sally. Two of Tiger's drivers hauled emergency fuel over 800 miles down to Mississippi and will fill backup generators at shelters and recovery centers throughout the week. This is the third disaster relief effort that Tiger has responded to in 2020.
"We are proud to answer the call for help and provide electricity, heat and hot water for those potentially impacted by Tropical Storm Sally. We were able to mobilize quickly and want to do whatever we can to keep our communities safe. Thank you to our amazing drivers for serving on the front lines and taking care of those in need," Sutton added.
