The Women's Breast & Heart Initiative Annual Pink Walk Goes Virtual In Its Fourth Year
Leading Into Breast Cancer Awareness Month the Virtual Event Offers Remote Participation for Two Mile Outdoor Walk
By: The Women's Breast & Heart Initiative
Pink Walk - The Virtual Movement invites consumers to participate remotely between September 20 – 27, any time and place, to raise awareness on the importance of prevention and early detection of breast cancer, while raising funds to provide breast health education and screenings.
"With COVID-19, common risk factors have been identified including having any type of cancer, obesity, along with heart disease, hypertension and high blood pressure. Amid the pandemic, breast cancer and heart disease have not been postponed and early detection helps beat the odds, states Andrea Ivory, WBHI's Founder and Executive Director. Our annual Pink Walk helps raise funds for access to preventive care and education on breast healthy habits."
Participants of WBHI Pink Walk – The Virtual Movement are invited to take a two-mile remote walk around their neighborhood, or at the park, beach and to spread the word among friends, family, and the community at large, while challenging three other people to join in. Participants are also empowered to play an active role in helping to save and change lives through personal sponsors and raise a minimum of $50 to receive a special fundraising medal, while contributing to the $20,000 fundraising goal.
The walk can take place anywhere and anytime between Sunday, September 20 through Sunday, September 27. The cost for the Pink Walk Registration is $25.00. All proceeds will benefit The Women's Breast and Heart Initiative.
