DALLAS - Sept. 14, 2020 - PRLog -- Dallas, Texas -This week, Badmus & Associates celebrates Welcoming Week by hosting the 2020 Immigrant Journey Awards as a way of "creating home together" and fostering a sense of belonging in communities around the world.

"In celebration of Welcoming Week, we are excited to spotlight outstanding immigrant achievements once again as we continue to celebrate the diversity of North Texas and our nation, honor exceptional immigrants and their advocates, and  award scholarships to outstanding immigrant or first generation American high school seniors," said Ann Massey Badmus, founder of Badmus & Associates and the Immigrant Journey Awards.

The Immigrant Entrepreneur Award is for an individual who has built a highly successful North Texas business and sets an example for other motivated entrepreneurs locally and in the nation. Immigrants who have made remarkable strides in a professional field are eligible for the Immigrant Professional Excellence Award, while the Immigrant Spirit Award recognizes an individual who has contributed substantially to the well-being of the entire community or region. Lastly, the Immigrant Advocate Award goes to an individual, organization, business or government entity that has made a powerful and positive impact on the welfare of immigrants via public advocacy.

This year's award winners are Adan Gonzalez, Mohammed Farshori, Dr. Feshaha Gebrehiwot, Mary Ann Thompson-Frenk, Veronica Sauto, Sudip Adhikari, Nehme William Elbitar, and Anslem Oshionebo. Under the theme of "Creating Home Together", Badmus & Associates and sponsors will host the Immigrant journey Awards on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.  This virtual event will broadcast on Zoom and Facebook Live. Free tickets are available at www.immigrantjourney.org/tickets

"Welcoming Week is a time to not only celebrate the values of equality and belonging, but to bring our communities together to live them in practice," said Rachel Peric, Executive Director of Welcoming America. "In places large and small, rural and urban, thousands of local leaders remind us of what is possible when we make it our priority to create a sense of home for every member of our community, so that all of us can be healthy, participate, and thrive."

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Welcoming Week will look different this year, with many communities opting to host virtual events and increasing engagement on social media.
