The short answer is yes. Ultra Violet rays helps in getting rid of COVID-19 virus, but it takes the right kind of UV in the right dosage. This is a complex operation and should be administered by trained professionals. In other words, many at-home UV-light devices need to be selected with care.
A study from Penn State Medical School suggests that UV light can be used to kill airborne COVID-19 particles and disinfect surfaces. This means, COVID virus which are present in air or on the surfaces, can be destroyed by UV Light. It is very useful to get rid of the virus from air and surfaces as they are main source of infection when someone get exposed after touching the surfaces or getting exposed from air. For this reason, some hospitals, subways, and other public locations are using UV light disinfectants to help sanitize areas when they are not in use by people. While helpful for cleaning these areas, UV light has not been shown to prevent COVID-19 infection in humans or to kill the virus in infected patients.
There are enough studies which provide information that UV Light will be helpful to get rid of COVID-19 virus. UV Light in HVAC is not only useful for providing clean air but also can help in getting the trace of viruses including COVID-19 removed from the indoor air.
