Follow on Google News | Announcing Bamboo Dart Press, a collaboration between Pelekinesis and Shrimper RecordsA new chapbook series is set to debut in late 2020 with a novella-in-flash by flash fiction superstar Meg Pokrass.
The initial offerings from Bamboo Dart Press will focus on modestly priced chapbooks that retain the spirit of the DIY spheres that comprise the origins of both Pelekinesis and Shrimper. The chapbook series launches in October 2020 with "The Loss Detector", a novella-in-flash, by flash fiction superstar Meg Pokrass. Hot on the heels of this spectacular first release will be collections by John and Ann Brantingham, Dennis Callaci, Stephanie Barbé Hammer, Jonathan Lethem and Anna Moschovakis, Nicholas Williams, Joel Huschle, Victor Gastelum, and other notable literary luminaries. Microfiction, essays, short stories, poetry, graphic arts, biography, and independent voices will all feature prominently in these small books. Each chapbook will be listed for sale on the Bamboo Dart Press website and featured on the Shrimper and Pelekinesis sites. We have also retained a Social Media Coordinator to help spread the word via Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. Mark Givens, owner of Pelekinesis, has published 75 books over the course of a decade. In addition to his literary pursuits, he is a member of the art rock group Wckr Spgt and is the art director for Shrimper Records. Mark has been writing computer code and designing websites for over 25 years and harbors a deep love of layout, design, typography, art, and technology. Dennis Callaci has issued hundreds of records, tapes, and CDs via his Shrimper label. Callaci's first book, 100 Cassettes, was released by Pelekinesis in 2020. He is in the band Refrigerator and has three decades of experience issuing independent releases.
