2020 Indy 500 Cover Art Unveiled w/IMS President, Doug Bowles and Artist, Alex Wakefield
The program details the history of the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" since its opening in 1909. It's a "linear and dynamic" story that highlights the drivers, team owners, machines, and ground-breakers that have made the Indianapolis 500 what it is to this day.
Each time a fan looks at the program art, there is always something deeper to discover. A subtle nuance, or part of the race they may have forgotten about that opens doors to wonderful memories.
Wakefield said, "This is easily the most complex illustration I've completed to date, and the most satisfying. Finally being able to share this labor of love with everyone is thrilling! Oddly enough, when all of the hours of illustrating were tallied, there were 500 invested. Pretty ironic! It is my hope that even with the difficult situation in the world today, my retrospective of the Indianapolis 500 can bring some great memories back for fans."
