Lymington Seafood Festival Given Green Light to Take Place

BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Aug. 19, 2020 - PRLog -- Following the easing of Government restrictions, the annual Lymington Seafood Festival is to take place from Saturday 29th – Monday 31st August at Bath Road Park, Lymington. Initially scheduled for earlier in August, the festival switches to a three-day event to help manage capacity that complies with social distancing guidelines.

The venue at Bath Road Park is one of the most picturesque with views across the Solent estuary, and it will host around 70 stands selling a range of seafood delicacies to tickle everyone's taste-buds. In addition, vegetarian options and those with a sweet tooth will also be available. Providing the entertainment will be bands and artists from across the south coast filling the air with blues, soul, ska, and more.

New for 2020 is a 'fine dining Pop-Up restaurant' led by acclaimed local chef Ian Gibbs, winner of many international competitions.  His menu is due to be announced shortly but will heavily feature seafood caught from the local Solent shores and produce from the New Forest to truly celebrate 'local.'

The Lymington Seafood Festival will now take place across the August bank holiday weekend. It will be a ticketed to provide data capture and 'track and trace' with the Saturday and Sunday split into two 'sessions'.  By having a 30minute gap between sessions it allows for a thorough clean down of the site, toilets, and all surfaces.

Tickets will have to be purchased in advance and cost £5 for adults, children under 16yrs go free. Crucially, by having a ticketing system it allows capacity to be managed which in turn ensures social distancing.

Richard Nowell from Lighthouse Marketing said: "We are obviously delighted to be staging our annual Seafood Festival and look forward to working with Hampshire Police and New Forest District Council with our preparations. We will be investing in a wide range of health and safety measures that we see in pubs or at other attractions.  However, the weekend will still have a 'festival' feel with great live music and almost every type of seafood imaginable."

"Judging by the reaction on social media, locals are excited about the event going ahead. However, we also anticipate people coming from a little further away and spending both time and money into the local economy; a much-needed boost given the tough times businesses have had." Comment Nowell.
