Aug. 18, 2020 - PRLog -- Remember the viral meme of Toomsboro, GA, a small town supposedly for sale in Wilkinson County? Well, on Friday, July 24, 2020, the Freedom Georgia Initiative acquired 96.71 acres of land on the edge of Toomsboro, GA making this black-owned, family-owned, woman-owned, and veteran managed history!

Both visionaries, Ashley Scott and Renee Walters, plus 17 of their close friends and family demonstrated cooperative economics in the midst of racial trauma, a global pandemic, and economic instabilities across the United States of America brought to you by COVID-19 in regard to making a black impact.

With hopes of building generational wealth, a new Black Wall Street, establishing homesteads and planned neighborhoods, vacation homes, and outdoor amenities, FGI is looking to use the vast resource-rich 96.71 acres to create a safe haven for black families and their allies; and in doing so, they have set up a Go Fund Me account asking for all people and aligned supporters that believe in social and economic systems, togetherness, solidarity, leveraging assets, and the power of collective action to please make a donation of $8 or $88 to help Freedom Georgia Initiative reach their goal of $88,000.

The proceeds will go to the development of the 96.71 acres of land in Toomsboro,GA for the establishment of an innovative community for environmentally sustainable living, health & wellness, self-sufficiency, and cooperative economics that hopes to be a model among BIPOC communities across the African Diaspora globally.

Along with the development process comes hiring a team to build roads, pavilions, gazebos, benches, as well as dig a well for water, create a small camping supply store, connect electricity, and install Wi-Fi capabilities. FGI has committed to prioritizing black-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned contractors and vendors to complete development.

FGI will utilize fundraiser proceeds to make the newly acquired land more hospitable before the highly anticipated debut of the BIG BLACK Campout, a new tradition to bring black families,1st-time campers, and RVers from all over the world together on private black-owned land in Toomsboro, GA.
