Drug Education Tools to Get Ready for Back to School

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Aug. 11, 2020 - PRLog -- As Florida youth are preparing to return to school either virtually or physically this month, the Foundation for a Drug-Free World (FDFW) Florida Chapter would like to remind parents of the importance of drug education. Not just during the school year, but during the summer and other breaks as well.

The FDFW's Truth About Drugs materials are used by parents, teachers, counselors, and many others who work with youth, providing true facts to counter the lies and myths about drugs found in movies, passed on by friends, and stated by drug dealers.

"We encourage parents to get the Truth About Drugs, so they can talk to their kids about it during the summer break and as school begins," said Julieta Santagostino, the President of the FDFW Florida Chapter.

The Center on Addiction stated that seven out of ten teenagers will have been offered an illegal drug by the time they are 17 years old. i And per another addiction services website, teenagers whose parents talk to them about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs. ii

FDFW makes it easy for parents to talk to their kids about drugs by providing free drug education materials. This includes 14 information booklets on the most commonly abused drugs and a documentary "Real People Real Stories."
