Over 500 Floridians expected to participate in 'virtual job fair' hosted by Grace Family Church

TAMPA, Fla. - July 28, 2020 - PRLog -- On Friday, July 31, Grace Family Church will host a "virtual job fair" for more than 500 Florida residents in partnership with Better Together. This job fair comes at a critical time, after more than 520,000 Floridians applied for unemployment assistance in March due to COVID-19 – more applicants in a single month than all of 2019 combined.

Rolanda Beacham of Grace Family Church expresses the congregation's eagerness to serve during this critical time:

"Grace is committed to serving the spiritual and physical needs of people living in the Tampa Bay area," Beacham said. "This virtual job fair will bring employers and job seekers together, from the convenience of their smartphone or digital device, to uniquely serve our community during this difficult time."

A dozen employers will participate that need to fill over 200 open positions. These employers include CareerSource of Florida, Spectrum Communications, WAWA, Ultimate Medical Academy, Serene Home Care, C.N.A. Technical Center, Weiser Security and many more.

To prepare for the job fair, participants can attend free workshop webinars taking place on July 29-30. The workshops help with resumes and interviewing skills. One-on-one job coaching services with trained volunteer job coaches will also be provided remotely via video or phone.

"People in our community need jobs and hope," added Beacham. "This virtual job fair will help provide people with both."

The virtual job fair is part of Better Together's Better Jobs Program. Better Jobs is a church-driven job fair program that has served more than 8,000 job seekers in Southwest Florida and beyond with tremendous success. At job fairs hosted by Better Together, two-thirds of job fair attendees get a job interview, and one out of four receives a job offer on the spot.

"We are finding creative ways to connect local job seekers and employers while preserving social distancing and keeping families safe," commented Megan Rose, CEO of Better Together. "Jobs are critical right now, and we want to do our part in connecting people with opportunities to provide for their families."

"We have the capability to serve thousands of people statewide from their home and mobile devices, so that is exactly what we are going to do," Rose adds.

The virtual job fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 31. To participate, please visit https://BetterTogetherUS.org/Events/Tampa-FL-Community-Job-Fair/. (http://www.bettertogetherus.org/events/southwest-florida-...)
