IRVINE, Calif. - July 26, 2020 - PRLog -- OC Thinkers and Bible Study for Progressives present: "Resisting Authoritarian Structures in Politics and Organizing," a live presentation, group discussion, and podcast. OC Thinkers is a critical thinking meetup and Bible Study for Progressives is a News & Politics podcast. This discussion will deal with the current struggle against authoritarianism and the collapse of democracy in the United States and around the globe. The presentations will focus on recognizing and replacing domination systems with democratic systems that respect civil and human rights.

While we claim to value democracy, freedom, and equality, we accept the authoritarian structure of our institutions and organizations. Most groups still have a pyramid structure with the leader at the top and the minions far below. This type of structure is the haven of narcissists and sociopaths who seek absolute power or, at least, their own interests rather than the stated goals and objectives of the group.

With the President sending military troops into our cities to quell protests amid his collapsing poll numbers and 100 days before the election, the threat to our Democracy is becoming increasingly clear.

Author, Attorney, and Journalist Rich Procida and Author and Media Psychology Specialist Lisa Snow will discuss authoritarian structures and leadership styles and how authoritarian organizations and institutions work. This will be followed by a group discussion. This meeting will be published live on Facebook and then edited and published as a podcast.
