New card game in throwback cassette tape holder cuts through small talk to get real

This is one of the questions that can be drawn from a deck of cards that is part of an edgy new party game delivered in a retro-themed cassette tape cover. "F-ck The Small Talk" hopes to spark lively, fun, and brutally honest discussion at parties through cards with topics ranging from gross-out questions to debates on "cancel culture" subjects.
With the card game, people at parties have a 30-second soap box to share their innermost feelings on random topics. They can also pick between the lesser of two evils, name their price to complete vile tasks, and engage in an instant debate with a friend.
Creator Pierrea Naketa, a public interest attorney by day and an "inappropriate game writer at night," created the game for young adults looking for a new way to connect and share at parties. To fund her project to bring the card game to people everywhere, she launched a Kickstarter campaign earlier this month that is now poised to surpass its fundraising goal of $3,000.
Naketa, who says she has a "severe allergy to small talk," wanted to provide a simple game to entertain and unite people during troubled times while offering a little slice of nostalgia in the 1990s-themed packaging.
"I created a magically repulsive yet gravely enlightening game that will help you get through any awkward dinner party, give you the power to talk about anything with anyone, or at the very least give you insight into the company you keep," Naketa said. "This game is made for the fearless and depraved, the indignant and self-righteous, the passionate and the loving, and most of all, for those of us who hate f-cking small talk."
The game is played by shuffling the deck, drawing a card, and responding to the question on the card in front of the group. The deck includes four card categories with topics ranging from the fun to the weird to the controversial.
Perks for backers, expected to be available by late 2020, include options for accessing "print and play" cards to full F-ck The Small Talk decks.
