OPED Medical Debuts Orthelligent Pro, First Digital Screening Device for Lower Extremity Injuries
A first-of-its-kind proprietary sensor and accompanying app hits the market, aimed at helping track and display graphically the healing progress for patients recovering from ACL and Achilles injuries.
By: OPED Medical, Inc.
"Orthelligent provides users a data-driven comparison of a healthy leg versus an injured leg which helps monitor their own unique healing progression, says company President Tina Caslin. "The real-time data this device provides patients is invaluable. They are better informed, more motivated and experience better health outcomes as a result."
The device is available in two different models and works by tracking specific criteria such as range of motion, coordination, and strength/speed. The Orthelligent Knee can be used by individuals such as high school and college athletes to keep them healthy and in the game or if injured, help them determine requirements to get back in the game. The Orthelligent Pro is designed with Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists and Orthopedic Doctors in mind and can be used to monitor and measure each individual's progression throughout the healing process.
Currently available for purchase throughout all of Germany, OPED Medical, Inc. is scheduled to release both device models in the United States beginning in August 2020. The full-function movement device allows therapists and physicians to make more accurate and personalized decisions on a case by case basis, improving overall care and outcomes for patients.
