Walking Back to (Gourmet) Happiness in Wales

BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - July 17, 2020 - PRLog -- Gourmet bolthole Tyddyn Llan Restaurant with Rooms in north Wales is the perfect place for a socially distanced summer staycation.

Located at the foot of the Berwyn Mountains, on the edge of the village of Llandrillo, owners Bryan and Susan Webb have created a special two-night walking package, for guests wishing to stretch their legs in the local countryside before enjoying a spectacular evening meal.

The hotel has produced six walking guides for guests with easy, moderate, and strenuous walks to choose from, including one to the mysterious Stone Circle.

There are 41 stones in the circle and one in the middle – like a miniature Stonehenge.  It is at the top of the small mountain which is about an hour's walk from the hotel.

For more adventurous walkers, reception can arrange transport to Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfalls from where you can make the glorious eight-mile walk over the top of the Berwyn Mountain back to Tyddyn Llan, building up a great appetite for dinner.

Other places of interest in the area include Llangar Church – a small mediaeval property on the  road from Llandrillo to Corwen – and Rug Chapel, found on the road towards Ruthin, with features including carved angels and a ghoulish wall painting of a recumbent skeleton as a reminder of mortality.

Also just a short drive away is the famous Ffestiniog Railway, and the Bala Lake Narrow Gauge Railway, which leaves from the village of Llanuwchllyn along nine miles of track with views of the lake and the wooded scenery of the nearby hills on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park.

There is also the option of a canal boat trip over Thomas Telford's famous Pontcysylite Aqueduct at Froncysylite, which stands 126 feet above the River Dee.  It is best enjoyed with glass in hand as the boat travels along arguably the most beautiful stretch of canal to Llangollen Wharf.

The special two-night break, which is available from Wednesday to Sunday (from 12 August), costs from £290 per person (two sharing a standard room).

This includes two nights' dinner, bed and full cooked breakfast, packed lunch one day and  tea/coffee, with shortbread and bara brith on one afternoon.  Room upgrades from £30 per person (subject to availability).
