AUSTIN, Texas - July 16, 2020 - PRLog -- Courses Deliver Digital Literacy and Potential for New Job Opportunities

Austin Free-Net offers free computer literacy training targeted at beginners now delivers new sessions of its Accelerate IT Certification Program for those interested in career development.

In an effort to create access to IT for all Austinites, Austin Free-Net is launching a new set of classes to promote digital literacy for new computer users and advanced training for those interested in entering the IT field with a CompTIA A+ certification.

What:  Accelerate IT Certification Program - the ACCELERATE IT Workforce Development Program was launched in August 2016 through a grant from Texas Workforce Commission. The grant allows Austin Free-Net to train 180 individuals with the CompTIA certifications they need to begin a career in Information Technology. All classes are held virtually, via Zoom, and require a $30 fee upon registration. Submit an online application to be contacted by AFN staff within 24-48 hours to schedule an in-house general assessment.

Held on T/W/Th, 5-9PM, course runs for 6 weeks
Date: August 25 - October 6

Course: A+ Core 1
Instructor: Helen Kneebone
Held on T/W/Th, 5-9PM,  course runs for 6 weeks
Date: July 14 - August 27

Course: ITF  (Virtual Classroom) -Entry Level
Instructor: John Fierro
Held onT/W/Th, 1-5PM, course runs for 6 weeks
Date: July 21 - September 1

Austin Free-Net has a main training site at the DeWitty Center in Central East Austin. The public access computer lab at the DeWitty Center has modified its service levels to appointments only.
