Corporate Services Singapore Explains Latest Singapore's Advisory on COVID-19 for Tourism
Since the beginning of COVID-19 outbreak, the Singapore government has enforced several measures to contain the virus transmission and lower the risk of imported cases. Currently, Singapore is gradually reopening its borders to permit safe travel within restricted quantities.
One of the general advisories for businesses in the tourism sector was concerning travel arrangements. "Every Singaporean and Singapore residents are advised to postpone all travel outside the country. Nonetheless, under the Green/Fast Lane arrangements, official travel and essential business will be allowed," explained Mr Hans Teo Han Siang, the general manager of Corporate Services Singapore.
Advisory on COVID-19 for the gradual resumption of business operations in Singapore was also introduced. "Singapore is slowly reopening its economy in stages. During Phase Two which begins back on June 19, most operations have resumed, subject to some safe distancing policies," stated Mr Hans.
Mr Hans further added, "The resumption of settings or operations in which massive numbers of people are likely to come into close contact, however, will take much longer. Examples of these activities include entertainment settings and large scale events, such as conferences and trade fairs."
Businesses in Singapore must also stay compliant with the safe management measures for workplaces highlighted by Go Business COVID, a Singapore government agency site. They should also comply with any industry-specific measures that apply to them, such as the requirements for working and break hours' staggering and the enforcement of Safe Entry.
"Organisations and businesses should also play their part in keeping the country safe. If they are incapable of meeting the safe management policies, they should engage with relevant establishments to seek permission for alternative safe distancing requirements,"
Additionally, the general advisory covers tourism businesses' reopening. "Tourism businesses in the country are allowed to resume their operations in stages starting from July 1. The Singapore Tourism Board listed the types of tourism businesses permitted to resume," explained Mr Hans.
Nevertheless, business owners need to show effective safe management measures' implementation to offer a safe environment for both employees and customers. Also, operators may only resume business activities after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
