By: Charlotte Art League
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - July 9, 2020 - PRLog -- Tomorrow, Charlotte Art League (CAL) is going to the dogs – literally and in the best possible way – as one of the city's oldest arts institutions becomes a pet-friendly paradise to open its latest physical and virtual exhibit – furbabies! CAL Animal House.

"We are encouraging people to bring their dogs in their fanciest dress as they take in the art inside and socialize outside while social distancing," explains Jim Dukes, CAL's Executive Director. The opening night festivities this Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. will feature an informal pet parade, DJ, Food Trucks and amazing artwork that is focused on the animals we are all so attached to.

While Opening Night originally was envisioned to include a pet adoption component, those plans changed. "Due to COVID, many shelters are not allowing their volunteers to do events right now,  so we are encouraging folks to visit the links that will be on our website as part of the exhibit to help and learn more about these wonderful organizations," Dukes says.

Folks also can register and pick up their packets for CLT Art and Sole ( during the event. This 4-week "race" allow you to run, walk or casually stroll at your own pace along a weekly new or familiar route through a Charlotte neighborhood's public artscape. Each Friday, participants will receive an email with the route for the week. Using the RunGo app, they'll receive turn-by-turn directions as well as information on each work of art they pass. It is a wonderful way to spend the morning, afternoon or evening exploring Charlotte's quirky, artsy neighborhoods – and you can walk your dog at the same time!

If you miss opening night, don't fear. "Furbabies! CAL Animal House will be here for a month, and we'll be simultaneously doing a virtual exhibit as well," Dukes notes.
