House of Lies by Margaret Blythe

MIAMI - June 23, 2020 - PRLog -- From the moment Myra asks the cautious taxi driver to take her to the house on the hill for her job interview, she has misgivings.

"My goodness," Myra said as she settled in the back seat. "You act as if the place were haunted."

The three-story Granger house is nestled in the hills outside of Portland, Maine. When Myra goes to work for industrialist Ned Granger in his house, she gets caught up in its intrigue and in the supernatural. She takes it on herself to try to solve the mystery of the spooky room on the third floor.

"I want to know what's up there," she told herself as she stood from her chair. She moved to the bookshelves and, seeing a book on the fourth shelf sticking out farther than the others, she reached for it. When she did, the wall unit slid back. Gasping, she jumped back and watched it slide open.

The wall unit came to a rest and Myra, slowly regaining her composure, hazarded forward to peer into the gloom behind the shelves. She fumbled for a switch and found a button on her right. Immediately bright lights flooded the area, illuminating a long, winding staircase that led all the way up to the third story.

Should Myra be afraid?

Margaret Blythe grew up in Lyerly, Georgia, a small town in the western part of the state. She now lives in Fort Payne, Alabama, with her husband of 32 years.
