NEW YORK - June 21, 2020 - PRLog -- SR Socially Relevant Film Festival 2020 (SRFF 2020) continues its tradition of highlighting key contemporary social issues with the short film bloc Gun Culture USA. Four films from the US will be shown, including Richard Chrisholm's Gun Show, about gun obsession shown through sculpted weapons made of found objects, Carl Clay's Getting Shot… The Real Deal! showing the real trauma, Adria Dawn and David Tarleton's Unsafe, on the Florida school shooting, and Jeremy Sarachan's Active Voices: Gun Reform Activism in Rochester. Atsuko Quirk and Debby Lee Cohen's documentary Microplastic Madness will be available alongside as the highlight, focusing on yet another pressing issue. The films will stream online from 5:00 PM on Monday, June 22 for 48 hours. A "Meet the Filmmakers" session is scheduled for LIVE streaming on Tuesday, June 23rd at 5:30 PM. - As an inspirational and optimistic take on the local and global plastic pollution crisis, fifth-graders from PS 15 in Red Hook, Brooklyn - a community on the frontline of Climate Change that was severely impacted by Superstorm Sandy.

Festival Founder and Artistic Director Nora Armani says, "One of the main inspirations for this festival was the prevalence of gun culture in the media and this country in general. For our seventh annual edition, SRFF remains committed to keeping the dialogue around gun reform in the USA moving forward. The festival is proud to have the support of NY Governor Andrew Cuomo, who has a history of pushing tighter legislation on guns in New York."
