Follow on Google News | Dan Schneider, of the Netflix true-crime series The Pharmacist, to address 2020 NAD+ SummitLeader battling opioid addiction will give public talk and fundraising reception
By: Springfield Wellness Center Schneider first joined the battle against the nation's opioid problem when his son was murdered in 1999, apparently in the course of a drug transaction. While still a grieving father, Schneider underwent a shocking education regarding the volume of opioid drugs that were being prescribed—often to healthy young Americans—decades before the nation declared the problem a national emergency. He set himself on a mission: to combat the pharmaceutical and insurance industries' ability to set policies that affect millions of individuals caught in a battle with addiction—and the millions more who love them. To expand his effectiveness, Schneider launched his own nonprofit—Tunnel of Hope— to refocus "the drug war" on helping, rather than criminalizing, users. Schneider's keynote address to the Summit, an international gathering of scientists and healthcare providers, will take place on Friday morning, Nov. 21, and is exclusively for Summit attendees. Schneider's Saturday night reception and presentation will be open to the general public. Tickets to the public talk and fundraiser are $50 and proceeds will benefit Tunnel of Hope and NAD Research Inc. The 6:00 reception will include hors d'oeuvres and a no-host bar and be followed by the talk at 7:00.
