DURHAM, N.C. - June 13, 2020 - PRLog -- History:
In 2010 our lives changed when our son Preston was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which requires extremely lengthy hospital stays that make managing life very difficult and stressful.  Over the nearly two years we lived at Texas Children's Hospital, there was one organization (B.I.G. Love) that was an amazing asset to our family and all the families on the floor.  Among the many great charities and groups, only B.I.G Love gave us something we were in desperate need of, time.

We understand firsthand the intense and heavy burden of living at a hospital and caring for a sick child.  Preston was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) at two years old.  After two and a half years of fighting courageously through intense chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant at TCH, then moving to Durham and facing another relapse and preparing and hoping for a second transplant, he passed away on May 19, 2012, after spending 498 days inpatient between both hospitals. Our family was so thankful to avoid running additional errands each week and still appreciate the extra time we were able to spend together as a family with Preston.

The same need is here at Duke and we want to help other families as we were helped.  We are so thankful for the opportunity Duke Pediatric Bone Marrow Department (DBMT) is giving us.

You all help make up Preston's League.  Everyone who has supported not only Preston since he was diagnosed in 2012, but supported our family, everyone who has helped with Preston's Christmas Drive, who have donated gifts, who have made cards to be delivered.  Thank you!  We can't do this without you!

Duke Children's Hospital's pediatric cancer and bone marrow transplant patients need our help!

Bone marrow transplant and cancer patients are among the most vulnerable for developing illnesses or infections. COVID-19 makes an already dangerous treatment even more perilous. Any way to help these families avoid possible exposures can be lifesaving.

Preston's League commits to providing personalized weekly wish lists to these patients every week. This allows families to avoid public places and stay safe during these uncertain times. We have a goal of $10,000. We can do this!

We are incredibly grateful for your support of Preston's League and its mission.

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
