New Thermographic Screening Service Protecting Employees From Coronavirus Infections

NEXGEN Protection Services announces a new non-invasive screening service for employers.

FLORIDA, N.Y. - June 11, 2020 - PRLog -- NEXGEN Protection Services announces a new non-invasive screening service for employers. Business needs to open back up safely, while not perfect, thermal screening is capable of reading people's temperatures from as far as 15 feet.

It's an option that provides businesses with some level of oversight and control. Symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Some people infected with the virus have reported experiencing other non-respiratory symptoms. Not all novel coronavirus patients exhibit symptoms, in fact asymptomatic carriers are still able to spread the virus (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

Online retail giant Amazon uses thermal cameras to do temperature checks at many of its operations facilities as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Employees with a temperature reading above 100.4 Fahrenheit are sent home. After three days workers are permitted back as long as their temperature is normal. Amazon adopted this policy drawing upon guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control.

"Thermal screening is not foolproof, because there are people who carry the disease without a temperature.  As we re-open our doors, organizations need to be prepared to mitigate the dangers of COVID-19 to protect the well-being of their employees." – Frank Costa, President NEXGEN Protection Services.

Secondary screening procedures are recommended by the FDA. An individual with an elevated temperature should undergo standard novel coronavirus screening. Workers with possible COVID-19 should work with their local and state health departments to coordinate testing through public health laboratories.

Worker Protections
The public needs to have a sense of security and safety while going back to work. To reduce the impact of COVID-19 outbreak conditions it is important for all employers to plan now.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) permits broad data sharing by covered entities for key health care purposes without requiring affirmative patient consent as long as the disclosure of Personal Health Information (PHI) is the minimum necessary to protect the public's health.

It's critical that we all continue to adhere to State and local guidance as well as recommendations from the CDC. We are all in this together.
