The Adventures of 'Florida Man' Coming to Comics
Award-Winning Comic Creator Mike Baron's Nexus Novel a Hit, Now Launching Florida Man
By: BIG Studios Press Room
Along with artist Steve Rude, Mike Baron first launched Nexus back in 1981 as a three-issue black and white comic book series that evolved into an ongoing series initially published by Capital Comics. The series followed Horatio Valdemar Hellpop who received his Nexus powers from an alien entity that required Horatio to kill mass murderers who come to him in dreams.
Now that the Kickstarter campaign is winding down to its final hours, Baron notes that the response has been nothing short of tremendous. The campaign exceeding the initial fundraising goal by an additional 150%! Baron expects to deliver the prose novel by September. Additionally, fans of Mike Baron and Steve Rude's beloved creation may want to also check out The Nexus: The Newspaper Strips Volume 1—The Coming of Gourmando which will be available early next year.
For Mike Baron's next project, he's going back into comics, pulling inspiration from his best-selling novel 'Florida Man', which tells the tales of a redneck and his girlfriend living in a trailer by the swamp. Florida Man dives into the heart of those wild adventures we've all seen on the news and internet memes. Florida Man the Graphic Novel launches as a crowdfunded 56-page prestige bound comic book on Indiegogo this Friday.
Mike has enlisted up and coming artist Todd Mulrooney to handle the art chores, and the book is looking at a November release. There are also some surprises being planned that should delight long-time fans of Mike Baron if the campaign is a hit. Baron also enlisted Chris Braly, the managing editor of the geek culture internet journal Bleeding Fool, to handle the editing chores.
Baron is bringing back "funny books" with this one. The quintessential "Florida man" is finally defined in all his outrageous adventures in one of the most magical and bizarre states in America.
