Junior Achievement of the High Plains awarded $7,500 grant from Xcel Energy
By: Junior Achievement of the High Plains
Junior Achievement relies on support from the community and corporate partners such as Xcel Energy to help our area students become successful in our community. With the help of this grant, JA expects to be able to provide programs to over 300 JA students this coming school year.
"Xcel Energy is a longtime partner with JA in the effort to educate students on the importance of being financially responsible with their income no matter how great or small that may be, Xcel volunteers present our Career Curriculum that helps students realize the opportunities that are available to them and the soft skills required to be successful in a work environment,"
Junior Achievement of the High Plains focuses on financial literacy, career development, and college and workforce readiness programs. Students learn financial topics such as budgeting, saving, the importance of establishing credit, and how to minimize debt. Trained and passionate business volunteers from within the community lead the classes, while public support gives us the ability to continue to provide these enriching programs. The organization started with 497 students in AISD and currently serves more than 4,000 students in both AISD and CISD schools.
