Refuge Academy preschool ministry expands enrollment community-wide
By: Refuge Academy
The Refuge Academy is a preschool ministry of The Refuge Church in Spring Hill. The program of excellence is for children ages 2 years through pre-K in early education. While the program launched in fall 2019, the team committed the first year to perfecting its Christian-based curriculum and fine-tuning program operations with an inaugural group of children. "Now that we have completed our highly-successful one-year pilot program we are excited to welcome littles from the entire community starting in August," said Kelli Shannon, director of the Refuge Academy. Enrollment for the 2020-21 school year is now underway.
"We offer an inclusive environment that meets each child's social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual needs," said Shannon. "Our preschool ministry features an individualized, small-scale, caring environment in a safe setting. We offer Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday programs and are conveniently located just two minutes off Highway 31 on Campbell Station Parkway."
"What I love about the Academy is that they have academics, but they don't lose the social and humanity part," said Amanda Weight-McGary. Her 2-year-old son Finnpatrick was a member of the inaugural class.
"The teachers are engaged and they care very much for our kids," said Jamie Burns. Her 2-year old Jonah was also a member of the inaugural class. "They engage with them one-on-one and know their personalities. I also like their curriculum—that they incorporate the Bible, but also ABC's, 1,2,3s, shapes and colors."
The Refuge Academy's fall semester will begin in August. Free tours are available now. Tours can be conducted in person, or by FaceTime, based on the parents' preference. To schedule a tour phone (615) 241-5660 or email Kelli.Shannon@
