By: Masters Hall of Fame martial arts, Sensei Dye has created a lasting legacy, influencing thousands of martial artists worldwide. Given the impact of Covid-19, the planned 40th-year celebration of Shuyokan Ryu has been difficult if not impossible. Dye's dojo has been shuttered for months, and the celebration postponed until 2021, if at all. A crisis point was reached recently with no apparent relief in sight since martial arts dojos will probably be the last businesses to re-open under California's phased openings. This has caused a group of active and engaged members of Dye's black belts to formulate a plan to save Dye's dojo from financial ruin and closure. A movement to "Save The Dojo" was quickly started with a GoFundMe page and outreach to the martial arts community, including the worldwide organization that Dye helped create, the Masters Hall of Fame. www.gofundme.com/ On Saturday, June 13th at 10 AM PST Kumu Michelle Manu will be at the Shuyokan dojo for a fundraiser event to conduct Facebook Live interviews of students with live demonstrations at 10 AM PST. Join Kumu Michelle at www.facebook.com/ For more information on the Shuyokan Dojo or to donate, go to the GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/ End
