A four-year starter and captain of the football team his Junior and Senior year, Corey has scored both on and off the field. He achieved Dean's list and a GPA that he hopes will earn him admission to John Marshall Law School this fall.
"Through actions and words, Corey has a heart to serve and a call to lead," said Tom Canale, Managing Director of Northwestern Mutual – Chicago's Rosemont District Office. "We are pleased to partner with Concordia University in presenting this award and recognizing his servant leadership,"
Corey's volunteer efforts include College Mentoring Experience (CME) as a mentor and volunteer in By the Hand Club. His strong faith keeps him active in his church.
He is most passionate about advocating for victims of domestic violence. A survivor, he shares his story to affect change, help others form healthy relationship habits and bring awareness surrounding issues of abuse. To support the cause further, he has selected Women Called Moses, an underground railroad for survivors of domestic violence, to receive the $250 donation that Northwestern Mutual – Chicago will make in recognition of his Athletic Leadership Award.
Northwestern Mutual – Chicago is committed to growing the next generation of leaders, such as Corey. The financial planning firm partners with Concordia University giving students access to outside experts on topics ranging from LinkedIn profile development to economic empowerment.
