Follow on Google News | Georgia Photographer Captures Community's Stay-At-Home Spirit with Front Porch ProjectBy: Photos by Lindsay Ann Snyder stumbled upon the concept of "Front Porch Project" while perusing social media. The idea quickly caught fire with Snyder. Thus, Snyder's own "Front Porch Project" was born. Snyder initially made a social media post seeking participation from families within a 10-minute radius. She immediately began getting eager responses, some inquiring if she would be willing to travel to areas further out. With time on her hands due to her business shut-down, Snyder began to dedicate herself to this pursuit. What began as a whim, grew into a movement. To date, Snyder's insightful images have captured the indelible spirit of over 200 Georgia families, providing them photographic mementos of this unique moment in history. According to Snyder, "Besides being a photographer, a photojournalist for a global music magazine, and a musician whose career has been sidelined due to this pandemic, I am a full-time, self-employed hairdresser who has been in practice for almost 15 years and has been out of work since March 17, 2020. I'll admit that a wave of anxiety sunk hit me the first 48 hours of having to shut down my business. The uncertainty of being able to produce an income invoked a lot of fear and panic. I called my Dad like I usually do when I need some wisdom and guidance. He said to me, 'Through tough times and compromise come some of the best creations, innovations, and greatness.'"
