ARLINGTON, Wash. - May 16, 2020 - PRLog -- Lino Del Vecchio, marketing and communication consultant for fashion & luxury, expresses a reflection on the effects of the covid emergency on the future of the category.

"The professional supply chain in the field of Fashion & Luxury is articulated and scientifically related to the individual activities linked together as in a puzzle in which each individual piece has its precise meaning.

Communication alone has no reason to exist without a substantially receptive target market and if even the residual market, which survived economically at covid 19, were to show interest in evaluating the proposals of the individual brands, it could hardly justify the dedicated and often "exaggerated" budgets that up to a few weeks ago they characterized the basis of the proposal to the market.

The change in strategies and subjective choices will be the result of the sedimentation of this tragic event but, unlike in the past, it will be in spite of ourselves without an elaborate and even less verified experience that can guarantee a certain result in the short and medium term.

In the aftermath of the health crisis and the consequent economic collapse, for the purpose of financial containment, the strategic steps related to the activities attributable to fashion and luxury will have limited some basic tools such as, among the first, the "events" with the consequent inhibition of all a series of services connected to them that represent a huge number of professionals and self-employed workers destined to deal with very little encouraging scenarios.

The event in itself involves the coordinated and continuous activity of multiple professionals who can hardly be converted into production areas and which risk, in fact, a strong downsizing of the active lines.

Certainly the "resistance" of the multinationals will be able to guarantee the maintenance of institutional activities and the world-wide Fashion Weeks to safeguard the necessary oxygen to maintain the presence, but the gap will inevitably be extremely open to irreversible damage to small and medium-sized production companies that today represent the 92% of Italian companies and which, with exceptions, risk collapse.

The hope of a possible resolution, such as containment of the damage and subsequent recovery of a balanced and transversal market that can safeguard the company and the professional, lies in forward-looking policies on a national and European level, without which, the logic of the numbers, will issue a sentence without any possibility of appeal ".
